Safari Mukoma focuses on the highlights of a Kenyan Safari, from the arid semi-deserts of the Samburu and Lewa areas to the north coupled with the expansive savannah plains of the Masai Mara to the south. There are several accommodation options in these areas, and we have included some of our favourites below.

Day 1: NAIROBI
Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. Proceed through immigration and customs. Met by a representative of TANO Safaris and driven to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Bed and Breakfast accommodation at The Stanley.
Day 2: NAIROBI to SAMBURU
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to Samburu. Depart at 10h20 and arrive at Samburu at approximately 11h00 (the flight may make stops at various airstrips prior to arriving at the clients’ destination). Met on arrival by the driver-guide from Saruni, and transferred to the lodge, with some game viewing en route. Lunch will be at the lodge, followed by some leisure time to relax. Afternoon game drive in the private conservancy. All Inclusive accommodation at Samburu Saruni.
Day 3: SAMBURU
All Inclusive accommodation at Samburu Saruni. Morning and afternoon game drives in the shared open vehicle within the conservancy and in the Samburu National Reserve. The region is famous for its natural beauty, and its surprising multitude of wildlife, including lions, elephants, Oryx antelopes, the endangered Grevy’s zebras and the blue-skinned Somali ostrich.
Guests may also choose to participate in the guided walks and night game drives (included during their stay). Also included during the stay at Samburu Saruni: Full Board accommodation, selected soft drinks, beers and house wines, non-luxury spirits; day and night game drives, guided bush walks; bush meals, sundowners and picnics (all activities are on a shared basis); laundry, and One complimentary massage per Cottage.
Day 4: SAMBURU to MASAI MARA
Enjoy an early morning game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Thereafter, transfer to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to the Masai Mara, departing at approximately 09h10. The flight takes around 2hrs (the flight may make stops at various airstrips prior to arriving at the clients’ destination). Arrive at the airstrip in the Masai Mara at approximately 11h10. Met on arrival at the airstrip by the driver-guide and driven to the House, with some game viewing en route. Lunch will be at the camp, followed by some leisure time to relax. Afternoon game drive in the Mara North Conservancy. All Inclusive accommodation at Serian Camp.
Day 5+6: MASAI MARA
All Inclusive accommodation at Serian Camp. Game drives in the private (open) vehicle in the Mara North Conservancy, and 01 full-day visit to the Masai Mara Reserve are included in this itinerary. There are no schedules at Serian Camp, and clients are free to tailor the day’s activities according to their own preferences. The focus of the camp is on availing to their guests the best authentic safari experience, by providing the best guides possible, comfortable rooms, and good food. The rustic, adventure feel is prevalent throughout the camp, and it is important to note that the private bathroom area (24hr running water, shower, bathtub, proper flush toilet, sinks) is located on the same platform as the sleeping area, not inside the sleeping area).
Included during the stay at Serian Camp: Full Board accommodation, selected soft drinks, beers and house wines, non-luxury spirits; the private and exclusive use of the vehicle with a professional driver- guide and spotter for the airstrip transfers and game drives in the Masai Mara area; night game drives up to 20h30; river fishing; guided bush walks; Bush Baths; the optional use of “The Nest” tree house for a night; bush breakfasts and sundowners, and laundry.
Day 7: MASAI MARA to NAIROBI and depart
Breakfast at the camp. The use of the tent is guaranteed up to 10h00. Transfer to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to Wilson Airport Nairobi, departing at approximately 11h00 to arrive at Wilson Airport at approximately 12h15 (the flight may make brief stopovers at other airstrips in the Mara prior to arriving at the Wilson Airport). Met on arrival by the TANO Safaris representative and transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

We love Saruni Samburu and Serian Camp, however other nice alternatives include the Lewa House and Lewa Wilderness (both located within the Lewa Downs in Northern Kenya) or the Sosian Lodge located within the Sosian Ranch in Laikipia, and the fabulous Angama Mara or the wild and rustic Rekero Camp in the Masai Mara. Families and groups of friends may like to consider staying at the Acacia House, Mara House, or at our favourite- Topi House.
